BLOCKPRINTING CRAFTSMANSHIP

DESIGN

Every Maasa Production print begins as a drawing. In our Delhi studio, we sketch each motif by hand, shaping it into either a seamless repeat or a bold, stand-alone print. Our blocks range from 15 × 15 cm to 20 × 20 cm, a size that keeps the details crisp while maintaining a beautiful rhythm on fabric. When a design is finalized, it’s entrusted to skilled wood carvers who translate the artwork into a wooden block, line by line.

WOOD CARVING

The art of carving printing blocks is a centuries-old skill once practiced widely in Delhi and now carried forward mainly in Rajasthan. Families of artisans have handed their knowledge down for generations, using only simple tools and steady hands to cut every curve and dot.

This slow, deliberate process is what gives each block its soul

and each print its character.

BLOCKPRINTING

We print each fabric by hand in Delhi, a city where block printing once flourished and still carries echoes of its craft heritage.

Every carved block is dipped in color and pressed carefully onto cloth, one impression at a time. We work exclusively with certified European inks that meet the highest textile standards, especially for organic cotton.

Each color is mixed by hand in small batches, so slight variations occur naturally , a sign of true craftsmanship and the human

touch behind every print.
